Frequently asked questions about the Manta Glass Court

What size of staging area is needed for the truck and trailer carrying the glass court?
The glass court is housed in a 37- foot "van body" semi trailer. The trailer is pulled by a semi tractor-trailer. We need enough room to maneuver the trailer as close as possible to the set up area. It takes 3-4 hours to unload the trailer then it can be moved to a parking facility if necessary. The trailer will come back prior to taking down the court and we allow 6 hours to reload the trailer.

How much room do you need to set up the glass court?
Once set up is completed, the glass court will be 26 feet wide, 36 feet long and 26 feet high. We require a further clearance of approximately 5 feet on all sides for the purposes of the set up and to move equipment around.

How long does it take to set the glass court up?
The glass court takes approximately 27 hours to completely set up. Usually the road crew works three 9 hour days. This would include unloading the trailer, setting up the court, cleaning the glass court and placing all the transport containers back into the trailer for storage. If a sub-floor is required, we allow an additional 4 hours.

How long does it take to take the glass court down?
The glass court takes approximately 14 hours to take down. Usually the road crew will work 6 hours the day the venue finishes and then 8 hours the following day. If a sub-floor was required, we allow an additional 2 hours to remove the sub-floor.

How many people are required to set up the glass court?
We supply 3 to 4 Court Engineers and ask that the venue supply 3 to 4 volunteers. These volunteers must be strong and have good backs as the majority of the work is unloading the trailer and relocating the cargo to the court staging area. Once the trailer is unloaded we will only require 1 or 2 volunteers for the duration of the set up.

How many people are required to take down the glass court?
We supply 3 to 4 Court Engineers and ask that the venue supply 2 to 3 volunteers. As with setup, these volunteers must be strong and have good backs as the majority of the work is loading the trailer.

Do we require any special equipment to be on hand?
We require two scissor lifts with a lifting height of 21 feet.

What type of power requirements are there for the glass court?
The glass court requires 2 types of power supplies:
1) A 110 Volt - power supply that will power the electronic score board, cooling fans for the large transformer, andtools required for the set-up.
2) A "3 phase, 3 pole, 50 amp breaker with either 220, 440 or 660 volts." This is to power the court "lighting." This power supply must be within 90 feet measured from the center of the front wall, of the glass show court.

Does the glass court come with a PA System?
NO - Currently a public address system is the responsibility of the host venue.

Does the glass court rental include any signage boards?
YES - There are a total of 19 sandwich board signs that circle the glass court between all the vertical glass panes.
• Fifteen (15) at 11" X 47" maximum sign size
• Four (4) at 11" X 35" maximum sign size

Does the glass court come with "bleachers" for spectators?
NO - Currently stands, or "bleachers", for spectators are the responsibility of the host venue.

Will the glass court mark or damage the floor of the facility?
There is little chance the set-up of the court will mark or damage the existing floor. In the case of a concrete floor we generally would not install any type of sub-floor. In the case of most other floor surfaces (i.e. Hardwood, rubber, asphalt etc.) we generally install a 1/2" plywood subfloor provided by the host venue.

Once matches have begun, is there any maintenance that will be required?
Glass maintenance - cleaning of the glass during the event will be the responsibility of the host venue.

Floor cleaning - cleaning and damp-mopping during the event will be the responsibility of the host venue.

Glass court maintenance - one or two Court Engineers will be available at all times during the rental period to maintain or repair the show court as necessary. This does not include the above two items.

What spare parts are kept on hand for the glass court?
We travel with spare glass panels for the two sidewalls and the front wall.

We also have spare light bulbs for the lighting system.

We do NOT travel with any spare glass for the back wall or any of the vertical support fins that support the courts glass wall panels. They are all different! If necessary, we may be able to reproduce these on-site using plywood or possibly plexi-glass.
